What’s in a name?

Posted on

That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

That Romeo sure could make a girl swoon. Fast forward to modern day and it seems that a name or a monogram can make a girl swoon just as quickly as that sweet turn of a phrase from Shakespeare’s time.

I always associated monograms with a wedding registry – china, silver, towels, etc. But, monograms are not just for your china and towels anymore.

Take a look at some of our favorite monogrammed pieces. You can monogram just about anything. Seriously! Which one do you want?

Celebrity time

We love to see our products on celebrities not only because we are fans of many of the celebrities, but it also brings attention to some of our favorite products. Whether you like that celebrities draw this type of attention or not, it is a reality in today’s world and we have fun with it. It allows some great designers and products that may not have been noticed before to get some well-deserved attention.

Jen Klair Kids has some fabulous celebrity customers who have shopped with us such as Kate Hudson, Drea de Matteo, Milla Jovovich and Holly Madison to name drop a few :) . Sometimes we make note of their favorite products on our site, so keep an eye open for that in our product descriptions.

Now, for the fun part… some of our favorite celebrities with some of our favorite products (click on the image to go to the product page):

JK Consignment Event

For all of you moms out there with little ones, you know how quickly they outgrow their clothes. Sometimes they outgrow their clothes before they have had a chance to wear them. When our girls were younger, I would find clothes hanging in their closet with tags still attached and wanted to cry knowing that they were already too big to wear them. Now is your chance to dry those tears. Join us at our annual consignment sale event and sell those fabulous new and gently used clothes and children’s items.

Our sale is like no other because we are joining forces with other designers and boutiques to sell their past season or overstock merchandise, too.

We pay you up to 75% of the sales on your items, which is one of the highest in the area.

We are also accepting a limited number of consignors by mail. So, if you have some fabulous stuff and do not live in the San Diego area, don’t fret.

We will also be listing some of the best items we receive for sale online before the sale opens to the public.

See? We have a little bit of something for everyone… If that wasn’t enough, we will have a giveaway each day of the sale AND a $200 gift basket raffled off on the last day to one lucky winner.  Tickets are $1 and all proceeds go to Project Night Night.

Have we convinced you to sign up yet? Go here to learn more and register today: www.jkconsignment.com

If you register before 1/31/13, you get to shop the pre-sale with our new moms and military moms. Yay!

Green smoothie

Posted on

528590_4583240416547_1354640171_nOur daughter has just started her beach volleyball season and recently attended a nutrition seminar. Her dad and I decided to join her and we are so glad we did. She is 12 now and has probably not given much thought to nutrition because she is blessed with an amazing metabolism. She and her sister can eat just about anything and not have any regrets later… unlike their mother ;)

So, when her coach started making a green smoothie to show the girls how easy and beneficial greens are in your diet, I thought they might have lost her. I know greens are extremely important in your daily diet, but I never gave it too much thought. I always included a vegetable with our dinners. But, the amount you need on a daily basis is more than a spoonful of corn with dinner. Go here to read about daily requirements. I guarantee that you will be surprised and like most of you, I was overwhelmed by this fact.

Enter the green smoothie. Her volleyball coach told us that drinking an 8 oz. glass of her daily homemade green smoothie over the past year has changed her life. I chuckled a bit to myself… seriously, a smoothie changed your life? Then, I looked at my daughter who seemed kind of excited about this and I decided to give it a shot. We stopped at the market on the way home.

I started making a blender full each night since our seminar and put it in the fridge for everyone to have each morning (they are much better cold) and I am a believer. Chuckle to yourself now… then, go out to your local market and find some of these veggies & fruit and make one. Try it each day for a week with your family and tell me if you don’t notice a difference.

Here is what we have been using in our smoothies. I don’t measure anything, except the coconut water so we don’t overflow. I blend the coconut water and greens first. Then, I add the fruit & extras.

Try some of these and go heavy on the greens:

Coconut water (about 12-16 oz)

Little bit of juice for sweetness (apple, grapefruit, mango)

Kale

Romaine leaves

Spinach

Bok choy

Cucumber

Avocado (pealed & pitted, of course)

Banana

Apple

Blueberries

Pineapple

Strawberries

Ginger

Cinnamon

Honey

I hear garlic is a great addition, but we drink ours in the morning and don’t want to smell like garlic all day… If you drink yours at night or don’t mind the taste of garlic lingering all day long, add it. Maybe brush your teeth pretty thoroughly afterwards :)

Have a green day!!

Jen
